Wisdom of the Willow is a creation that grew from the time I spent meditating under my willow tree during this pandemic. The Willow’s deep roots reminded me to stay grounded and connected. The flow of her branches reminded me to be flexible and go with the flow of the uncertainties of life. The shade she provided allowed the warmth of the sun to filter through and shine light upon me, while I stayed cool and calm.
I found her innate healing power to be so profound that I decided to do some research. For centuries the bark of the willow tree was used medicinally. It was from willow bark that aspirin was first extracted. Modern science confirms that the willow bark contains salicin which has anti-inflammatory properties. Symbolically, the willow tree represents balance, learning, growth and harmony. The stability of her trunk reminds us to stand firm even in difficult times. Her branches are strong, but flexible, and bend without breaking.
I decided to combine the Wisdom of the Willow along with my knowledge of healing foods; and so this project was born. Wisdom of the Willow will be a series of nutritional talks focused on supporting the immune system with healing foods. Because 70% of our immune system is stored in our digestive system, the foods we eat are integral to our wellbeing. Now more than ever, it is important to eat foods that support good health and healing. Each Willow session will have a guest who will choose the nutritional topic of interest to them. Guests will enjoy the healing properties of the Willow tree along with receiving a healthy snack and recipe that supports their body’s unique nutritional needs and an extra boost of immune support
Wisdom of the Willow’s upcoming guest and nutritional topic will be posted every Monday for the rest of the summer. Talks will be shared that same Friday. If you enjoy the healing of the Willow and have a nutritional topic you would like to learn about use the entry form to win a private session.

I had the pleasure of talking with Lauren of WHEREIMAT about keeping your immune system strong this winter.
